Celebrate Waitangi Day (New Zealand’s national day) with Kiwi-inspired doughnuts, including the return of the Whittaker’s Peanut Slab, sweet as!
We’re bringing back the Whittaker’s Peanut Slab doughnut by popular demand for 2023. We’ve flown this iconic New Zealand treat in directly from the factory in Porirua ready for the celebrations! The signature sourdough doughnut is bursting with Whittaker’s Peanut Slab custard, topped with a milk & dark chocolate ganache and finished with chopped Peanut Slab pieces.
The Whittaker’s Peanut Slab will be available in six or twelve-packs in The Whittaker’s Slab Doughnut Selection.
What is Waitangi day?
Waitangi Day, often refered to as the national day of New Zealand, falls on the 6th February every year, and marks the anniversary of the innitial signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, considered to be New Zealand’s founding document, in 1840.
Alongside the much-anticipated return of The Whittaker’s Peanut Slab, we’re also celebrating a classic, the Tongan Vanilla Bean Glaze (ve), a vegan sourdough, topped with our signature Tongan vanilla bean glaze, due to it’s ties to New Zealand.
Why Tongan Vanilla Bean Glaze?
Lying off the Northen Coast of Newzealand, Tonga is a small archipelago, and eighth largest producer of vanilla globally. The Tongan Vanilla Bean Glaze (ve) is made using the finest Tonga Vanilla sourced from Heilala Vanilla, an award-winning Vanilla brand, founded by New Zealander, John Ross, and his family asas an aid project in 2022. Heilala Vanilla is sourced straight from Tonga, from a small vanilla plantation. Heilala Vanilla is also used in the Tongan vanilla bean glaze on our classic Cinnamon Scroll.

The Waitangi Day boxes will be available to pre-order via the Crosstown app or website from 24th January, with delivery across Greater London, Cambridge, Oxford and Brighton 1st – 7th February. The Whittaker’s Peanut Slab will be available to buy individually in-stores from 1st – 7th February.
