Crosstown has teamed up with cheese specialists, cheesegeek, to create their very first limited edition savoury doughnut for their lunchtime offering, launching across a selection of Crosstown sites on the 28th May.
Crosstown renowned for crafting their signature sourdough doughnuts and cheesegeek who source the very finest, often hard to come by seasonal British cheeses – both companies are devoted to premium products and high quality ingredients.
Both sourdough and cheese are influenced by their environment, using natural cultures to bring them to life. Not only do they have similarities in craft but balance each other’s flavour profiles, tangy sourdough complementing the rich cheese – a cheese Crosstown doughnut makes a lot of sense now (right).
Crosstown’s signature sourdough has been expertly paired with tangy sundried tomatoes. The doughnut is generously coated in a rich Rutland Red cheese glaze, which adds a savoury, slightly sharp depth that complements the tartness of the tomatoes. The centre of the doughnut contains a smooth, nutty Spenwood cheese custard which provides a creamy, slightly sweet contrast.
Crowning the savoury doughnut is spiced peanuts are sprinkled on top, adding a satisfying crunch and a subtle hint of warmth. The combination of the robust, tangy Rutland Red glaze, the creamy Spenwood custard, and the tart sundried tomatoes all come together to construct the perfect lunchtime feast.
Each bite is a delicious mix of textures and tastes, from the chewy, tangy sourdough to the nutty, rich custard and the crunchy, spicy peanuts. This unique blend of ingredients makes for a truly indulgent and memorable treat.
