Celebrate Lunar New Year With Pandan Doughnuts
Lunar New Year is right around the corner and we have just the sweet treats for the celebration, the famous Pandan which is returning to the Crosstown line-up alongside the Pandan Lamington cake doughnut, back for a second year!
Pandan – Our signature sourdough has been infused with fresh pandan leaves, filled with a homemade coconut custard, then topped with a vibrant pandan icing, and finished with desiccated coconut.
Pandan Lamington – Pandan and white chocolate ganache, piped between two layers of Pandan infused cake dough, generously covered in a Pandan icing, then rolled in desiccated coconut.
So what exactly is Pandan?
Pandan is atropical plant that grows freely in many parts of Asia which has become a much-loved ingredient found in South Asia and Southeast Asian cuisine. Pandan is used in both sweet and savoury dishes in Chinese, Indonesian, Malaysian and Filipino dishes, to name a few. The flavour can be described as resembling vanilla with floral notes and a hint of coconut.
Lunar New Year 2024
The Lunar New Year, signals the end of the winter period and is a sign of new growth to come. Lunar New Year falls on 10th February this year, marking the beginning of the year of the Dragon – one of 12 animals in the zodiac.
