Earth Day 2022

Founded in 1970, Earth Day is a day to celebrate and raise awareness for environmental issues on our planet. Whether that is taking action in your own life to help end plastic pollution, fight climate change, or contribute to protecting our lands and wildlife.

This Earth Day (22nd April), we’re donating 50p for every mile driven by our fleet of electric vans to environmental charity ClientEarth. The vans will be on the roads delivering Crosstown goodies to our stores, as well as fulfilling pre-order deliveries to customers’ doors across Greater London and Cambridge.

Crosstown electric vans

In November 2021 we introduced electric vans to our fleet, making up 90% of our vehicles.  The electric vans are used to cover deliveries of freshly baked sweet treats to stores and markets, for online pre-orders across Greater London and Cambridge, as well as corporate orders and events.

Since Crosstown’s inception, we’ve been conscious of our environmental impact, striving to find solutions to better our practices as the brand grows. We’re looking to make lasting positive contributions to the community and the environment, from sourcing sustainably sourced packaging, using seasonal ingredients, offering compostable recycling solutions in-store, developing vegan flavours, to introducing electric vans to our fleet.

Who is ClientEarth?

ClientEarth is one of the world’s most ambitious environmental organisations. Working in partnership across borders, systems, and sectors, using the law to protect life on earth. They’ve helped governments to write environmental laws, and regulators to enforce them. ClientEarth has saved Europe’s oldest forest from destruction, smoothed the way for environmental lawsuits in China, and helped communities in Africa’s last great rainforest cut illegal logging.

This Earth Day, ClientEarth are taking action against ending the use of fossil fuels. Using the power of the law to end fossil fuels and tackle the climate crisis.

As the latest IPCC report makes clear – if we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, the world’s greenhouse gas emissions must peak by no later 2025, and then rapidly decline. Right now, more than 70% of the world’s emissions come from fossil fuels.

To make a double-impact donation in the UK, donations can be made on the 22nd April at the Big Give donation page here.
