NEW FLAVOUR: THE SICILIAN LEMON OLIVE OIL (VE)
The Crosstown bakers have been hard at work perfecting our newest doughnut flavour for Summer 2019: Sicilian Lemon Olive Oil. This fresh doughnut is made with our award-winning vegan sourdough, topped with Sicilian lemon olive oil glaze and finished with a generous topping of homemade candied Amalfi lemons – a perfect sweet treat for summer in London. Just one bite and you’ll be transported from London to the Italian countryside!
As always, we’ve sourced the finest ingredients possible. We’ve shipped in whole Amalfi Coast lemons which are famed for being especially large and juicy whilst being less tart and sour than normal lemons – perfect for our home made candied lemon topping.
The smooth lemon olive oil glaze is made in the Crosstown bakery following a bespoke recipe using Nudo’s lemon extra-virgin olive oil. Nudo creates the lemon olive oil with the agrumato method, during which whole lemons and olives are ground together in the oil press. So much of the citrus oil is held in the skin of the lemon, so this method gives the doughnut a perfectly balanced real lemon flavour – perfect for delivering flavour with every bite within our doughnuts.
Not only is Nudo’s olive oil of high-quality, but the brand also supports small-scale, sustainable olive farmers in Italy. This ethos is achieved through a leading adopt-an-olive-tree program, which provides farmers with economic security and supplies food lovers with authentic Italian oil delivered straight to their door.
