Crosstown Opens New Doughnut Truck At Battersea Power Station
On Friday 14th October, Battersea Power Station opened their doors to the general public for the first time. Inside, you can find Dasha, the newest addition to the Crosstown doughnut truck gang.
The History of Battersea Power Station
From the 1930s to 1980s, Battersea Power Station was a working Power Station, supplying a fifth of London’s electricity.
It has since been awarded Grade II* listed status by Historic England, celebrating it’s special architectural and historic interest.
Today, it has been redeveloped into one of London’s most exciting and innovative new destinations following an eight-year restoration. Serving as a riverside neighbourhood where the community can eat, drink, play and live.
The Power Station provides a contrast between the old and the new with the four iconic towers still standing tall, exposed brick walls and machinery on show inside, while the shiny new shops and restaurants add a touch of the 21st century.
Similar to Crosstown’s own origin, starting as a market stall on Leather lane in 2014, opening up our doughnut truck, Dasha, to the public in this historic landmark eight years later feels like a full circle moment for us, a contrast between old and new and a reminder for us of how we started.
You can catch the Powerstation’s opening celebrations ‘The Festival of Power this Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October, where there will be entertainment and more.
We are so excited that The Power Station has become Dasha the doughnut truck’s new permanent home. So wether you’re visiting for a day of shopping or a catch-up with friends, stop by for a sweet treat to go.
Catch us serving up our full range of award-winning doughnuts, handcrafted cookies, small-batch ice cream, extraordinary chocolate, and specialty coffee everyday 10am – 9pm.
